Gwynedd has been named as the best county in Wales to take a road trip this year.

That’s according to data released by car experts, Dyler, who analysed 11 factors ranging from the safest roads to the best access to green space before ranking each region based on their performance.

Gwynedd came top according to Dyler, who recommend a road trip round the A498 - Snowdonia with Anglesey second and Conwy third.

Flintshire was named the worst Welsh county to take a road trip.

Their research considered a variety of factors, from the safest roads to the most dog-friendly restaurants.

The overall winner for the whole of the UK was Cumbria, England.

Cornwall and Devon’s popularity was backed up by data, coming second and third place for overall best destinations

The Highlands and Stirlingshire have the ‘greatest’ outdoors, with the two regions tied in first place for nature-breaks

Shetland was named the best region to plan an epic road trip: with safe roads and stunning views.

The Orkney Islands was named most peaceful get-away, with London named the trendiest.
