Aberystwyth Gymnastics Club is to put on a public performance in an attempt to raise vital funds to get up-to-date equipment.
The club is intending to put a grant application in to Sport Wales but, if successful, will have to provide at least 20 per cent of the funding themselves.
To raise the £5,000 needed for the grant, Donna Jones, the club’s welfare officer and a member of the management committee, has set up a GoFundMe page.
The club is hoping to apply for the grant in February, once it has sourced the additional funding and put together an equipment list.
The equipment required is a double mini trampoline, a 20m air tumbling track, five 10m by 2m roll-up mats and various landing mats and minor equipment.
Head coach Joan Morgan told the Cambrian News: “Unfortunately as gymnastics equipment is very expensive, this amounts to around £25,000.
“In order to keep up to date with the extensive training required, we need to have up-to-date equipment.”
She added: “In order to help with fundraising, we have organised a sponsored tumble/roll, national invitational competition and we are planning to put on a gymnastics performance, showcasing our display team and showing the ability of our tumble teams.
“We are hoping this performance will take place on the weekend before Easter, venue dates pending.
