THE PRESIDENT, Christine Hemsley, welcomed members to the meeting held on 10 February at the memorial hall.
Meirion was sung accompanied by Myfanwy Jones at the piano. Best wishes were sent to all the members that were unwell, and birthday cards were given to members celebrating birthdays. This month, and a card and gift was given to Mr and Mrs John Turton who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on 12 February.The newsletter was read and all relevant dates were noted, including Te Cymreig at Dyffryn on 26 February and the Wales AGM on 20-21 April at Llandrindod Wells.
The Royal Welsh show will be held at Builth Wells in July. Meironnydd is the host county and stewards are needed and craft items for the stall.For any members interested in the craft items, craft classes will be held in Dolgellau on 16 March. The centenary scrapbook has been sent in for judging.
A station report was given by Denise Hagan which was a great disappointment to all the members that had worked so hard since 2009 to keep the station clean and re-plant the planters. A great deal of vandalism had taken place recently and rubbish and litter thrown all over the station.Members said it was a great shame this was still happening and voted to stop looking after the station area.
After the business was concluded, members admired and tasted the sweets and savouries that had been prepared for the competition for Valentine’s Day recipes.The next meeting will be held at the Harlech memorial hall, 9 March, and this will be our Welsh evening.Invitations to other institutes have been sent out to join us on this evening
