Madam,
From a personal point of view, I did not show a great deal of interest in the royal wedding.
However, it was a pleasant and enjoyable event for a lot of people that made a change from the rest of the mayhem that is going on in the world.
I agree with the comments in your newspaper, which questioned why it was deemed necessary to remove the display from the Oxfam shop.
I have friends in India, Australia and the USA and they were so looking forward to seeing the royal wedding and participating in some way.
I appreciate that not everyone approves of the royal family (looking at the political presidents around the world, we could do worse) but have we become so intolerant that others cannot express a view and participate in a pleasant and enjoyable event?
I am English, having only lived in Wales for 16 years. However, I have worked with local charities and supported various clubs and activities in many ways. I do believe I have shown a commitment to my new home area, so am able to express a view.
Yours etc,
Ray Sharratt, Llanyre.
