Madam,
Re: Hywel Dda health board consultation and proposals.
A highly stimulating if somewhat concerning talk by Jack Evershed regarding the proposals by Hywel Dda concerning Bronglais in particular, led the Probus Club to produce an independent response which reflected the views of our membership.
Members, all retired professional and business people, many of whom are frequent users of Hywel Dda services, are very aware the impact of high use and limited resources are having on the medical and support staff, and also on their own treatment.
It was further decided, after receiving information from Hywel Dda that response to the proposals in Ceredigion was particularly low, that friends of the club should be encouraged to respond either by completing the questionnaire, or indicating their support for the Probus response document which will be sent to the chief executive, or both.
The club wishes to express thanks to all those who spread the word about the consultation and proposals and encouraged others to sign if they agreed with our independent report.
We are especially grateful to our friends in Taliesin and Tre’r Ddôl, the garage shop in Penrhyncoch, and the people of Waunfawr, Aberystwyth and Penparcau. We were also supported by the Friends of Bronglais who produced their own response document.
We hope this goes some way to acknowledge the significant change in direction taken by Hywel Dda to ensure that Bronglais will not only be a District General Hospital with a fully functioning A&E but also with consultants in cardiovascular surgery, colorectal surgery, orthopaedics and cancer treatment. We are hoping that Hywel Dda will prioritise Option A.
Yours etc,
Russell Jones, Aberystwyth and District Probus Club.
