TWO Aberystwyth brothers have raised over £1,100 to help cancer patients at Bronglais Hospital after their aunt was diagnosed with cancer.
Eben, 11, and eight-year-old Lefi Evans walked a nine-mile route from Llanilar to their home in Llangorwen which included Aberystwyth’s promenade and a trip up and down Constitution Hill.
The big-hearted brothers decided they wanted to raise money to help cancer patients after seeing family and friends suffer from cancer and following the recent diagnosis of their aunt Jennifer Evans, from Talybont.
The boy’s mum, Kylie Evans, said despite the nine-mile walk and some rainy weather, Eben and Lefi had said they enjoyed the walk despite admitting it was hard work.
Kylie said: “Their auntie was recently diagnosed with cancer, and having seen other family members and friends suffer from the disease in the past, they decided they’d like to do something to help cancer patients in Bronglais Hospital.
“They decided to do a sponsored walk from their dad’s house in Llanilar to their home in Llangorwen. We estimated it would be about eight miles, but it ended up being nine miles.
“We’ve been overwhelmed at the amount of money people have donated and are very grateful for the support. I’m very proud of them for deciding they’d like to do something to help others and going through with it.”
