A MACHYNLLETH care home will open its doors to the public to give people a chance to find out what life is like for its residents.
Staff and residents at Cartref Dyfi Bupa Care Home are preparing to offer everyone a warm welcome and a taste of typical care home life at a fun-packed event which is being held to mark Care Home Open Day.
Care Home Open Day, a joint initiative by all the UK’s leading care providers, aims to showcase everything that’s good about care homes, showing what enjoyable and stimulating places they can be to both live and work in.
Cartref Dyfi Bupa Care Home is inviting families and the community to join them on Thursday, 19 April, from 2pm to 4pm for an afternoon tea party, complete with entertainment from John Hughes, the self-styled Singing Farmer. The buffet tea, consisting of sandwiches, soup and cakes, will be available from 3.30pm onwards.
The day will also provide a great opportunity for those considering a career in the sector. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions and guests will be able to see first-hand just how rewarding their work is, and explore the wide variety of career opportunities that are available.
Home manager at Cartref Dyfi Bupa Care Home, June Stalham, said: “This is a great way to show the excellent services on offer and the fantastic work that goes on at Cartref Dyfi. Some people still have misconceptions about care homes, so we are keen to dispel any myths and for our local community to come and have a look around, meet the staff and our residents and take part in the day.”
