ALTERNATIVE companies are being sought by the county council to take over care contracts for clients abandoned in the Aberystwyth area.
The Cambrian News revealed last week that Affinity Homecare had given some north Ceredigion clients notice that it would no longer be providing them with services.
They include a terminally ill Capel Bangor man who could be forced to move to a care home outside of Ceredigion.
Affinity Homecare said it had been forced to give notice on some care contracts as it did not have adequate staff numbers.
Ceredigion council said it was looking to find alternatives to ensure care needs would still be met.
A spokesperson said: “The council works closely with a number of domiciliary care providers including Affinity to ensure that services are available to meet the needs of people requiring care at home.
“On occasion providers are unable to continue delivering some visits due to changes in need, staffing availability, or travel and time constraints.
“Affinity has recently given 28 days notice on the individual service contracts they provide for four people.
“The council is working closely with Affinity and other domiciliary care providers working in the area to arrange appropriate alternative services.”
But former Ceredigion MP Mark Williams, the chair of the Save Bodlondeb campaign group, said the removal of care services to people assessed as having a care need raised concerns over a reliance on private providers.
