FIVE more deaths have been recorded in Wales today according to the latest Covid-19 figures, but the rate of infection is falling nationwide.
1,924 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the latest figures published this lunchtime by Public Health Wales, with the national rate of infection now standing at 510.8 cases per 100,000 population.
Of the new cases recorded today, 27 have been in Ceredigion, with Carmarthenshire recording 184 new cases.
38 cases have been recorded in Pembrokeshire with Powys recording 82 and Gwynedd, 91.
The five new suspected Covid-19 deaths recorded today take the total number of fatalities in Wales linked to the virus since the start of the pandemic to 5,760.
Official recorded show that 500 deaths have been recorded in Hywel Dda region of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, with 1,007 in the Betsi Cadwaladr region of North Wales and 68 in Powys.
The Office for National Statistics data show the true number of Covid-19 deaths to be much higher however.
The ONS has collated all death certificates that mention Covid-19 and says that 755 deaths have been recorded in Hywel Dda, with 1,449 in Betsi Cadwaladr and 272 in Powys.
