Over 3,000 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded across Wales today along with five new deaths.

Latest figures released this lunchtime by Public Health Wales show that 3,009 new cases have been recorded nationwide, but the rate of infection has dropped slightly to 638.4 cases per 100,000 population.

46 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Ceredigion with Carmarthenshire reporting 219 and Pembrokeshire recording 175.

Powys recorded 45 new cases while Gwynedd reported 96.

Two of the five deaths recorded today have been in the Hywel Dda Health Board region of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, with a total of 515 deaths recorded in the region since the start of the pandemic.

Two deaths have also been recorded today in the Betsi Cadwaladr region of north Wales, taking the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in north Wales to 1,039.

No deaths have been recorded in the Powys Health Board region, leaving the total at 72.
