A DOZEN deaths have been recorded across Wales today along with over 2,500 new cases of coronavirus.
Ceredigion has recorded 61 new cases of Covid-19 today according to the latest data from Public Health Wales.
Carmarthenshire has recorded 86 new cases with Pembrokeshire recording 138.
Gwynedd has recorded 106 new cases with 92 in Powys.
The Borth and Bontgoch region of Ceredigion currently has the highest rate of infection across west Wales.
The rate, which is taken from a rolling seven-day period between 17-23 October shows that Borth and Bontgoch, which includes villages such as Bow Street, has a rate of 1,250 cases per 100,000 population.
In comparison, over the same period, Lampeter and Llanfihangel Ystrad had a rate of just 303.3.
In total, 2,664 new cases of the virus have been recorded across Wales today with the national rate of infection dropping to 671.3 cases per 100,000 population.
The 12 new deaths recorded today take the total number of suspected Covid-19 fatalities in Wales to 6,134.
Two of the deaths recorded today have been in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board region of north Wales, taking that area’s total to 1,068.
One death has been recorded in Powys, taking the total to 77 since the start of the pandemic.
No deaths have been recorded in the Hywel Dda Health Board region of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, with the total number of deaths remaining at 563.
However, The Office for National Statistics has compiled the total number of deaths registered that mention Covid-19 on the death certificate and those numbers are much higher.
A total of 803 deaths have mentioned Covid-19 on the certificate in the Hywel Dda region, with 1,579 in the Betsi Cadwaladr region and 289 in Powys.
