MORE than 14,000 new cases of coronavirus and 14 deaths have been recorded across Wales, according to the latest data released this lunch time.
A total of 14,036 new cases have been reported today (Sunday) with the national rate of infection currently standing at 1,415.4 cases per 100,000 population.
Powys has recorded 387 new cases today with Gwynedd recording 311.
In west Wales, Ceredigion has recorded 179 new cases, with 569 in Carmarthenshire and 299 in Pembrokeshire.
The latest seven-day infection rate, which covers a period up to 27 December shows that Aberystwyth south has the highest rate of infection in Ceredigion with a rate of 2002.1 cases per 100,000 – meaning one in every 50 people has Covid-19.
It is closely followed by the Borth and Bontgoch region which has a rate of 1,868.3 and Aberystwyth north, which has a rate of 1,867.6.
Hywel Dda Health Board, which covers Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, has recorded four deaths today, taking its total number of suspected Covid-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic to 636.
Betsi Cadwaldr Health Board in north Wales has recorded one death today, taking its total to 1,133 deaths since March 2020.
No new deaths have been recorded in the Powys Health Board region, with its total remaining at 86.
A total of 14 deaths have been recorded nationwide, taking the total to 6,581.
