OVER 40 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Ceredigion today, according to the latest figures.
Daily figures, released this lunchtime by Public Health Wales, show that 10 new deaths from Covid-19 have been recorded across Wales today with 2,298 new cases nationwide.
43 of those new cases have been recorded in Ceredigion, with Carmarthenshire recording 161 new cases and Powys, 64.
81 new cases have been recorded in Powys with Gwynedd recording 67.
The rate of infection across Wales appears to be on a downward turn however with the rate currently standing at 500.1 cases per 100,000 population.
Of the 10 new deaths recorded across Wales today, one was in the Hywel Dda region of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, with the total number of suspected Covid-19 deaths in the region now standing at 501.
Betsi Cadwaladr in North Wales has recorded 1,008 deaths since the start of the pandemic with 68 in Powys.
Wales’ Health Minister, Eluned Morgan, has announced that all healthy 12-15 year olds in Wales are to be offered a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine with booster jabs for over 50s also being rolled out from next week.
Speaking on the decision to offer teens a coronavirus jab, Baroness Morgan said: “I have accepted this advice and we will now begin preparations to invite 12 to 15-year-olds who have not yet been vaccinated to have a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine."
