A total of 31 deaths have been recorded across Wales in the latest Covid-19 figures – with nine in the Hywel Dda region.

Technical issues mean that today’s figures cover a 72-hour period but Public Health Wales say the true figure of new cases is likely to be much higher.

Officially, 5,288 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded since the last report on Sunday, but officials say the true number of new cases is likely to be just over 8,000.

This is due to not all new cases being flagged as ‘new’ over the three day period, Public Health Wales say.

Ceredigion has recorded 131 new cases since the last report with 402 new cases being recorded in Carmarthenshire and 315 in Pembrokeshire.

Powys has recorded 189 new cases of coronavirus while Gwynedd has recorded 143.

31 deaths have been recorded across Wales today with nine in the Hywel Dda Health Board region of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

These new deaths take the total number of suspected Covid-19 fatalities in west Wales to 560.

One new death has been recorded in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board region of north Wales taking its total to 1,066.

No new deaths have been recorded in Powys with the total number of Covid-19 related deaths remaining at 76.
