Two new deaths have been recorded in Wales today along with over 1,700 new coronavirus cases.

Across Wales, 1,758 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the latest set of data released this lunchtime by Public Health Wales.

The nationwide rate of infection is dropping however and currently stands at 530.5 cases per 100,000 population.

Ceredigion has recorded 19 new cases of Covid-19 today with Carmarthenshire recording 156 new cases and Pembrokeshire, 98.

Gwynedd has recorded 55 new cases today with 46 recorded in Powys.

The two new deaths reported in Wales today take the nation’s Covid-19 death toll since the start of the pandemic to 5,926.

Neither of the two new deaths have been recorded in the Hywel Dda area of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, where the overall death toll remains at 523.

Betsi Cadwaladr in North Wales has recorded 1,041 deaths since the start of the pandemic with Powys Health Board recording 73 deaths.
