LLANLLWNI is the latest community to receive a lifesaving defibrillator thanks to match-funding raised by the Talardd Ramblers with help and support from the community and the British Heart Foundation Nation of Lifesavers package.
The defibrillator is placed outside the Talardd Inn allowing continuous access in the event of an emergency.
The BHF Nation of Lifesavers package allows people to be taught vital cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills and provides public access defibrillators where they are needed most.
Steve Glasson from the Talardd Ramblers said: “We raised funds for a defibrillator with the help and support of the local community and also funding received from the BHF. We completed a 26.2-mile walking event in June and raised £3,500.
“There is now a defibrillator located outside the Talardd Inn so that it is accessible at all times in the event of an emergency.
“I would like to thank all the members of the Talardd Ramblers, the local community and businesses in the area for all their help and support in raising vital funds.
“The community have also been trained by the Welsh Ambulance Service on emergency life skills, which involved CPR and defibrillator training, and there are plans for more training sessions in the future.”
