A BRONGLAIS Hospital physiotherapy instructor is preparing for a half-marathon in Cardiff to raise funds for his own department.
Chris Richards, who has set an early fundraising target of £250, said he wanted to support the physiotherapy department as he sees first-hand the support given to patients.
Chris, who has already done a 10k race, said: “I’m from Aberystwyth and have lived here all my life. I work for Hywel Dda in the physiotherapy department at Bronglais and Ceredigion community as a physiotherapy technical instructor which I have been doing for close to three years now.
“Seeing all the benefits physio does and how it has helped so many people has become a passion of mine as it is such a rewarding job.
“The work that is done is simply amazing and that is why I’m raising money for this department.”
Chris took part in a 10k race last year and after enjoying it decided he would sign up for the Cardiff Half Marathon.
He said: “I am currently doing a 12-week training programme of five different workouts a week.
“I am doing one long run, one easy run, one tempo run, one cross-training, usually cycling, and one interval training.
“As the weeks progress the distances are increasing the length of some workouts increase.”
Chris has set up a JustGiving page where anyone would like to donate can do so at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Crichards2502
The Cardiff Half Marathon takes place in October.
