A COMMUNITY group in Machynlleth is celebrating six months of its new drop-in service.

Community Action Machynlleth and District (CAMAD) has been celebrating the first half-year of its Pathways drop-in service - “a much-needed new venture that offers a vital and stable base for those living with mental health challenges”.

CAMAD has been the community support and volunteering hub for Machynlleth and the Dyfi Valley for over 15 years.

Jeremy Richards of CAMAD said: “There’s no question that the winter blues have been in watercolour this year.

“I don’t know anyone who isn’t at least a little fed up. But then there are those who feel rather more than fed up; those for whom this time of year can be a bit of a prison. It often comes down to motivation. If your day doesn’t look particularly inviting, or it just promises more of the same, well, there’s not much incentive to do anything. On the other hand if at least a couple of times a week you could spend some time with others who get what you’re going through there might be possibilities. CAMAD’s Pathways drop-in service offers just such a possibility.

“We offer tea and coffee, biscuits and fruit, informal art and music sessions, or just a space to chill and chat.”

The sessions run on Mondays and Thursdays between 1pm and 4pm upstairs in the Care Centre, Forge Road, Machynlleth.
