A new defibrillator has been installed in Abergynolwyn at the steam railway station.

The Talyllyn Railway has always been closely connected with the village of Abergynolwyn ever since the village was first developed to provide homes for the Slate Quarry workers of the 19th century.

The railway was originally built to carry slate down to the coast for shipment onwards by sea or by mainline railway, but additionally it has always been an important part of the infrastructure for transport in the local community.

Links between the Railway and the Village Community have been strengthened over the years.

More recently, the annual Abergynolwyn Show, now in its 17th year, has been hosted on the field owned by the railway and located next to the station car park.

Abergynolwyn Show chairman Jennie Evans, said that the show, which began in 2003, now raises in excess of £7,000 each year all of which is donated to support local charities who benefit the village in any way.

Last year, the show committee allocated £1,000 towards the provision of a defibrillator at Abergynolwyn Station.
