PLANS have been submitted for a major expansion of a Llandysul nursing home to create additional room for people needing care - with new jobs also on the cards.

An application for work at the Blaendyffryn Nursing Home in Horeb had been lodged for renovation of existing works and the creation of an additional 15 rooms.

The plans were due to go before a council planning committee in September for a decision, but were withdrawn on 14 August.

It is understood that the withdrawal was because of the absence of a bat survey, but that the plans are likely to be resubmitted by owners Welcome Care Homes Ltd.

The application is for renovation works to the current home which would include changes to the home’s layout, the creation of 15 new rooms in the current loft area, the installation of a new lift, as well as a lounge and other associated facilities.

Blaendyffryn currently has registration to provide care for 26 residents aged 65 or over, and for “one younger adult requiring nursing care”.

A design and access statement which was produced as part of the original application said the proposed changes would lead to the home having 45 double or single en-suite bedrooms, a new lift and two lounges or dining halls.

The application also says that additional jobs will be created.
