HEALTH chiefs have confirmed that people due to get their booster jabs can go to their nearest vaccination centre.

Hywel Dda University Health Board has this afternoon confirmed that people who have received a booster jab or first jab appointment in the post can go to their nearest centre after concerns were raised that people in the Aberystwyth area were being sent to Haverfordwest and Carmarthen.

This week, the first appointment letters to 12- to 15-year-olds and booster appointment letters were issued to people who received their second vaccine dose over six months ago.

Several people have contacted Cambrian News today after they received letters (1 October) inviting them for either a booster jab or their first jab at either Haverfordwest or Carmarthen.

But Hywel Dda University Health Board have now confirmed those invited for a vaccine can attend their nearest mass vaccination centre, if the appointment provided is not at a convenient location.

This offer is however strictly for those who have received an appointment letter from the health board.

Please bring this letter with you when you attend for your booster or first vaccine if you are aged 12 to 15 years. You do not have to attend at the time or date specified on your letter.

Bethan Lewis, Interim Assistant Director of Public Health for Hywel Dda UHB, said: “Having been made aware appointments have been allocated for some at a centre further than their closest centre, we would like to reassure people with an appointment letter that they can attend their nearest centre at a time convenient for them.

“There is no need to contact the health board to rearrange and we apologise for any confusion or distress this may have caused.”

The mass vaccination centre is in Thomas Parry Library, Aberystwyth, and is open from 1, Friday to 7, Thursday October between 10am and 5pm for boosters and between 5.30pm to 8.20pm for anyone with an appointment aged 12 to 15.
