A TREMADOG foot specialist is in the running for a new award against 10 of her peers set up by the health board.
Eleven health stars are in the running to receive the Seren Betsi Gold Award at this year’s BCUHB Achievement Awards.
Podiatrist Amanda Rossell Smith is renowned amongst her colleagues for her experience and high skills levels, her willingness to teach others, and total commitment to improving access to podiatry services in the local community. Through study and extensive personal effort she provides services previously only available in Ysbyty Gwynedd at Ysbyty Alltwen.
She is unfailingly kind and enthusiastic and liaises extensively with nursing and primary care colleagues, the renal unit and local social services to ensure her patients are cared for promptly in the most appropriate location.
Others nominated for the award are the staff at Dewi Ward (children’s) at Ysbyty Gwynedd; specialist osteoporosis nurse Sister at Llandudno Hospital, Amanda Durber; dementia support worker at Ysbyt Glan Clwyd, Barry Walkden; dementia support worker at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Eirian Owen; Macmillan information facilitator, Pam Wedley, Wrexham Maelor Hospital; speech therapist Fiona Luff at Colwyn Bay Hospital; cardiac imaging specialist, Liana Shirley, Denbigh; stroke early supported discharge team, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd; mental health worker at Wrexham Maelor, Harriet Mallot and district nurse, Myra Sutton from Flintshire.
The Seren Betsi Award is presented each month by chief executive Gary Doherty to a member of staff, team or volunteer in the Health Board in recognition of their efforts to go above and beyond.
This year for the first time, the public can vote for one of the previous winners of this award, to win an annual Seren Betsi Gold Award.
The winner will be revealed at the BCUHB Achievement Awards on 9 November at Venue Cymru.
