POLICE officers have teamed up with Dolgellau Hospital’s Outpatients Department to raise awareness of dementia.
PCSO Gareth Jones submitted an application for a police community grant to help the outpatients department to achieve dementia friendly status.
They aim to make the environment welcoming to everyone that attends the clinic and particularly those with dementia.
The £150 grant will buy a white board to show details of the staff in the department with photographs; a digital clock showing the day, date and time and an iPod with speakers to play relaxing music whilst patients are waiting.
Staff of the outpatient department said they wanted to thank North Wales Police for their continuing support to improve the health and well-being of the local community.
Dave Evans from the North Wales Police and Community Trust said: “We are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile project that strengthens the relationship between the local policing team and the hospital.
"It is plain to see that the staff at the Dolgellau and Barmouth Hospital are committed to providing an excellent service to their community, and we hope that this contribution of £150 from our Small Grant Fund will help to support their valuable work with those suffering from dementia.”
