MEIRIONNYDD students engaged with the SEXtember annual sexual health campaign.
Dolgellau Hospital’s Outpatient Department teamed up with Ysbyty Gwynedd’s consultant physician Dr Ushan Andrady to promote the campaign in the region.
Dr Andrady and Steven Evans-Jones from Dolgellau Hospital Outpatient Department gave a presentation on safe sex, STI testing and the importance of consent with students at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor Dolgellau.
Dr Ushan Andrady, consultant in Genitourinary Medicine/HIV leads this campaign to raise awareness around sexual health matters.
He said: “It’s difficult for some people to talk openly about sexual health without being embarrassed, therefore it’s really important that we try and make it easy for people to talk freely about any issues or concerns they may have around their sexual health. That is why we promote this campaign every year.
“This year we have been raising awareness around the risks associated with having sex, under the influence of drugs and alcohol. This mixture can reduce inhibitions and can make people feel more sexually confident. However, the line between enjoying yourself and becoming out of control and putting yourself at risk is a thin one and is different for everyone.”
