WOMEN suffering with the after effects of breast surgery are being offered comfortable pillows.

The Rotary Club of Mawddach is launching its latest project at a coffee morning to be held at Gwin Dylanwad in Dolgellau on 25 January, St Dwynwen’s Day.

The initiative, called the Heart Pillow Project, is aimed specifically at women who have undergone breast cancer surgery or radiotherapy.

The aftermath of such treatment can leave the skin sore, making everyday tasks uncomfortable.

The scheme will see heart-shaped pillows distributed freely to women who have such post treatment problems with the aim of making their aftercare more comfortable.

The Rotarians at the Mawddach club picked up the idea from friends in Germany, and, after making an initial batch of heart pillows, several were given to local women who had recently undergone breast cancer treatment.

To request a pillow or to recommend a patient please contact Vicki on 01341 423459; Hilary on 01341 450255 or Rose 01341 247033.
