A warning for heavy rain and strong winds has been issued for much of west Wales this evening.

Following a wet weekend across much of Wales, the Met Office has this morning issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain and strong gale force winds from 5pm this evening until 4am on Tuesday.

Up to 50mm of rain is possible on already saturated land with the Met Office predicting that a few homes and businesses will be flooded as the band of rain sweeps across the country.

The yellow warning states: “A band of heavy rain, accompanied by strong and gusty winds, will move eastwards across Wales and southwest England into central and southern England this evening.

“Between 20 and 30mm of rain could fall in a few hours with as much as 40 to 50mm in a few spots in southwest England, South Wales and also north-western parts of Wales.

“Western parts of the warning area, except northwest Wales, will become drier from the west through the evening.”
