Madam,

“Something you want, something you need, something to wear and something to read”. This is a motto that has been kicking around social media for a while as a means to try and simplify our buying habits at Christmas. I’m not sure if it will be embraced by the majority but it seems like a good rule of thumb to me. We can easily get caught up in the vision of Christmas portrayed in the media leading us to spend, spend, spend and then spend a bit more because, after all, it’s Christmas.

This year let’s buy gifts that will be truly appreciated and not end up in the green bin in January and, when we can, let’s buy our gifts locally.

Here’s to a green Christmas and a prosperous and even greener new year.
