A POPULAR detective series set in and around Aberystwyth has been shortlisted for a prestigious award at the New York International Film and Television awards.

Y Gwyll/Hinterland is one of four S4C programmes that have scooped a nomination in various categories, including Sports & Recreation, National/International Affairs, Childrens/Youth Program and Crime Drama, the category Y Gwyll/Hinterland is nominated in.

The nomination is for the second series, first broadcast in autumn 2015, produced by Fiction Factory and financed by broadcast partners S4C and BBC Cymru Wales, together with all3media International, Tinopolis and Welsh Business Finance.

The series is distributed internationally by all3media International, it has now sold to 30 countries and is available on Netflix worldwide.

Director of content and broadcasting for S4C said: "This year’s nominations, the highest number yet for S4C at the New York International Film and Television awards, is a source of great pride and is a credit to the extremely talented and creative production sector in Wales.

The 2016 New York International Film and Television awards will be held in Las Vegas on 19 April.
