A team from Thermatex (Vale Brothers Ltd) on Cardigan’s Parc Teifi undertook a sponsored walk with a difference to raise funds for young Aleisha Wallace.

Aleisha’s grandmother, Pam Wallace, works at Thermatex, whose team pushed and pulled the company’s plastic horse mounted on a pallet on wheels from Cardigan to Newcastle Emlyn and back – a distance of 22 miles.

The group had fantastic support along the route, raising £1,031 from bucket collections thanks to passing motorists and residents, plus over £1,500 in sponsorship money.

On the return trip they were greeted at Cenarth by Aleisha and her dad Paul, who were on their way to Cardiff where Aleisha was undergoing further treatment.

The team wish to thank B V Rees for the loan of two support vehicles, Brian Francis and Colin James for driving, and Aldi and Premier of Cardigan for supplying drinks and snacks.

“A special thanks to the Openreach engineer who, as well as making a donation, came to the rescue of walker Sophie Parr and repaired her broken glasses,” said a spokesperson.

“Also, thanks to Amy and Robert Pardoe who turned up at just the right time with hot coffee and tea, plus the gentleman who turned up with apples as though the horse was real!”
