ALMOST a dozen horse riders have supported a campaign ride in Machynlleth urging motorists to drive carefully around horses.

Mike Mills organised the ride as part of the Pass Wide and Slow national campaign urging drivers to be aware of horse riders and the best way to safely pass them.

Mike and his daughter Keri have been heavily involved in the campaign after Keri produced leaflets including safety information as part of a school project, which were used nationally.

“The ride was a great success,” Mike said. “We had 11 horses on the campaign ride and all riders enjoyed the hack out over the Wilfa on to the Owain Glyndwr track. A special thanks to the owners of CCF and Sew and Sew on the industrial estate in Machynlleth for letting us use the parking area.”
