A couple from Llwyngwril have become the first to marry in Tywyn’s local hospital since its opening in 1922.

When thinking of romantic settings for a wedding, the Tywyn and District War Memorial Hospital may not be the first place that springs to mind.

On Thursday, 18 July, however, thanks to the dedication of the nurses and auxiliaries, the hospital became potentially one of the most romantic locations in Wales.

The newlyweds, Phill Roberts and Josette Longmore-Roberts, became the first couple to tie-the knot at the hospital since it was opened in 1922.

Mrs Longmore-Roberts’ medical condition meant the couple were unable to leave the hospital to get married, but this didn’t put a stop to the wedding, which was officiated by Rev Lyndsey Ford, from the couple’s home village, and attended by close family and friends.

In preparation for the wedding, hospital staff had gone the extra mile, transforming parts of the ward and hospital grounds into a venue where memories could be made and worries put aside for a few precious hours.

The couple would like to thank staff for all their hard work, care and compassion and for the sheer warmth of feeling demonstrated while making their special day one full of memories to last a lifetime.
