Husband and wife Steve and Charlotte Baxter of Welsh Hot Tubs have donated £5,000 to the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Bronglais Hospital.

The couple, whose business Welsh Hot Tubs is based in Llangwyryfon, near Aberystwyth, decided to donate a proportion from each sale during the first lockdown as a thank you to the unit for Charlotte’s care after her breast cancer diagnosis.

Mum-of-two Charlotte, 38, was diagnosed just before lockdown and after treatment under oncologist Dr Elin Jones at Bronglais Hospital has now recovered.

Steve and Charlotte said the Cancer Services staff were fantastic at a very difficult time for them.

“The diagnosis hit us hard, especially when the pandemic came so soon afterwards, but the staff at Bronglais Hospital were brilliant,” the couple said.

“We realised just how much they do at Bronglais Hospital and we wanted to make a donation that would help local people who need to access the cancer services in the future.”

The couple said they also wanted to thank family and friends for their support during such a difficult time.

Dr Jones accepted the cheque from the couple and said: “It is so heart-warming that, even with Covid-19 and its restrictions, people like the Baxters went to so much effort to raise money for the Chemo Day Unit.”

“I want to say a special thank you to Steve and Charlotte for doing something so positive.”
