AN OVERGROWN hedge at the back of a Lampeter pub is overshadowing the homes of elderly neighbours, according to a local councillor.
Cllr Hag Harris says he has tried repeatedly to persuade Brains Brewery to trim the hedge at the rear of the Black Lion which, he says, is casting a shadow over homes in nearby Harford Row.
In a letter to the brewery, Cllr Harris said he had called into the pub on a number of occasions to raise the matter and spoken to its then manager as well as notifying Ceredigion County Council’s environmental services department.
“The very simple matter, surely not too large for a company with the financial resources of SA Brain, is that this overgrown hedge is negatively impacting on the amenity of properties on Harford Row, Lampeter,” he added.
“Some of these properties are occupied by elderly individuals - the overgrown hedge makes the rear of their properties dark and gloomy.
“The Black Lion, Lampeter, is not acting as a considerate neighbour... quite the opposite in fact!”
SA Brain did not respond with a comment.
