THE hunt is on for Wales’ best Bara Brith baker.
Budding bakers, both young and old, from around the globe are invited once again to submit their take on the country’s most famous bake, as part of the Jones Crisps World Bara Brith Championship to be held in November at Llandudno.
With a new Junior class added to this years Championship, the event will hopefully raise new interest within all the skilled young bakers who wish to show off their culinary skills.
One of the main judges will be member of Merched y Wawr Linda Jones.
Mrs Jones, who was a Home Economics teacher at Ysgol Glan y Môr, Pwllheli before teaching food technology at Ysgol Dyffryn Ogwen, loves cooking Bara Brith.
“What better way to raise the profile of one of our most iconic Welsh food produce than hosting the Jones Crisps World Bara Brith Championship,” said Linda Jones.
“Merched y Wawr will be working on getting entries from their members, so I’d urge people to get in touch with their local branch for more information or by visiting merchedywawr.cymru” said Linda.
“Opening this Championship to include the younger bakers is very much welcomed by Coleg Llandrillo,” added Lesley Tipping, assistant principal of Coleg Llandrillo.
The contest will be on 16 November, organised by Welsh-based Jones Crisps in partnership with Llandudno Christmas Fayre, and held at the Holy Trinity Church, Llandudno.
Registration has to be in by Saturday, 10 November.
All entries need to arrive at the church between 5pm to 7pm on 15 November, while postal entries must land at Jones Crisps head office in Conwy’s Riverside Business Park between 13-15 November.
