Madam,

I refer to an article in your paper of 27 December and write to suggest that my experiences of the state of the toilets near the TIC in Aberaeron are completely opposite to those quoted by a newly elected town councillor.

As a resident of Aberaeron and a regular walker around the harbour and promenade I often make use of these toilets and find them to be spotlessly clean every time I use them.

There is always hot water, soap and a working hand dryer, far from being disgusting as described. My wife also assures me that the ladies’ section is kept to the same high standard.

As for charging to use them, not a good idea. It will only encourage less legal methods of going to the loo.

I would go as far as to thank the council and the cleaner for their good work.

May I take this opportunity to suggest that both Ceredigon and Aberaeron councils should be more concerned about the amount of dog mess in the area.

Yours etc

D Morgan, ex-councillor, South Road, Aberaeron.
