Madam,
Many congratulations to all concerned for their efforts in organising the Welsh Highland Railway Past, Present and Future Gala held between 21 and 23 June.
Seeing the iconic locomotive Russell hauling fare-paying passengers to Beddgelert after a break of 83 years was a sight to behold - something many thought would never happen.
One hopes that in future Russell could work occasional trips to Beddgelert at normal fares so as many as possible could ride behind it rather than having to pay the £50 gala fare, just for a single ride.
‘Russell’ brought many people to the area so supporting the local economy in cafés, guest houses and hotels.
One hopes the two railway organisations involved will continue to work well together and bring even more people to this part of Wales and so keep more people in work in their home area.
Yours etc, Chris Magner, Dunval Road, Bridgnorth.
