Ida Wenøe returns to Cardigan as part of her UK tour with a performance at Small World Theatre (her only Welsh venue) this Friday, 19 April, at 8pm.
She will be supported by The Wren Songbook, a four-piece acoustic band from the Cardigan area with a warm, rustic, homespun feel.
“We’re delighted to welcome back these two very popular and exceptional acts, a spokesperson for Small World said.
Ida is an indie-folk artist of the highest calibre. Her music has tinges of Americana and a Nordic inflection and a thing of great beauty.
2016 saw a whistle-stop seven-day introductory UK tour that showcased her genuinely unique talent as a solo artist for the first time.
She’s had radio plays from BBC6 Music’s Tom Ravenscroft and Gideon Coe.
The music from her debut album has just been picked for Danish TV documentary De Smukke Piger and the latest nomination for the Danish Folk Awards in the ‘Songwriter Of The Year’ category.
The Wren Songbook is a four-piece acoustic band from the Cardigan area.
The connection between the band and their audience creates an intimate atmosphere with a warm, rustic, homespun feel as they wind their sweet harmonies through bluegrass and contemporary folk tunes.
Their song choices are influenced by the beautiful landscape that surrounds their hometown, from wild seascapes to quiet woodland spaces.
Expect to hear, guitar, ukulele, flute and possibly a banjo or mandolin.
The band members are Ellie Bodenham, Phoebe Partridge, Ronnie Turner and Kev Griffiths, and their musical influences include Lisa Hannigan, The Staves, First Aid Kit and Mountain Man.
