A CORONER has opened an inquest into the death of Llyn man, who is believed to have been struck by a boat propeller while swimming in the sea in Malta.

Allan Stanley from Ceidio, near Nefyn, was swimming at Hondoq ir-Rummien Bay in Qala, Gozo, on Sunday, 19 June. The 76-year-old had been holidaying with his wife, Diane, 69, at the time.

A formal opening of his inquest was held in Caernarfon on Thursday, 27 July. North Wales senior coroner, Dewi Pritchard Jones, said he was likely to have to rely on statements from British people holidaying in the area.
