An art installation for Dydd Santes Dwynwen and Valentine’s Day has been held in Tywyn to show why residents love the town.

The installation was held at 22 High Street, known to the community as ‘Pages’, which has stood empty for over 12 years, with its condition allowed to deteriorate.

The building was bought by RD Development Limited back in August 2017 and they have since dedicated their time restoring the external front back to its former glory.

Rebekah Pughe, one of the organisers of the installation said: “This building is well loved and extremely popular with the local community and people who holiday in Tywyn.

“At the end of January this year the external renovations to the front of the property were completed and the owners had the idea to create a “why we love Tywyn” art installation for a welsh Valentine’s window display that would run through to 15 February to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

“Some of the local businesses got involved, but our main collection of hearts came from the local community and the Year 5 and 6 Ysgol Pen y Bryn primary school pupils.

“In celebration of the restoration to the front of this fantastic building the aim was to show how we can all come together to create something positive for Tywyn as well as demonstrate the artistic talents and enthusiasm we all feel for the area.

“The creativity and imagination shown by our local community and some of the local business has been incredible.”

RD Development Limited thanked Welsh Property Services; Rebekah Pughe, My Place Properties; Jean Napier, photographer and writer; Sara Waddington, Magic Lantern Cinema; Jonathan Bretnall, writer; Liz Hutchinson, Hutchfolk Media; and ASG entertainment “for all their outstanding hard work.”
