THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised for emergency services after a turbulent charity ride featuring dozens of jet skis took place.
Last Saturday, the second Black Rock Blast event took place with 100 jet skis turning up to take on the 70-mile ride from Morfa Bychan to Aberdyfi and back.
Unfortunately, “unfair” weather saw the event curtailed with organisers deciding choppy seas and a poor forecast meant racers could only ride as far as Barmouth.
Twelve riders decided against taking on the conditions – which featured 1.5-metre waves – but 88 riders made it to Barmouth.
Once there, a further dozen riders decided to make their way back to Porthmadog by road but 66 jet-skiers rode back to Black Rock Sands.
Despite one jet-skier tearing a ligament in his leg at the start of the ride, no other injuries were reported.
An after-party was held in Porthmadog with organisers expecting “well over £6,500” following an auction, raffle and head-shaving event.
