A Gwynedd jet-skiing group has raised over £10,000 for charity with an annual event along the Cambrian coastline.
This is the third year in a row that PWC Gwynedd, a group who meet and take part in jet-ski rides throughout the area, has held their Blackrock Blast event, a 100km ride along the north Wales coastline.
Scott Beeland, who organises the event, said: “In 2016 I dreamt up an idea to create an event to promote the sport and bring the community together, as well as raise some money for the UK rescue services, which are not government funded.”
After securing support from the UK watercraft industry and attracting the interest of 51 jet-skiers for their first event in 2017, he set out to make Blackrock Blast an annual affair.
Scott said: “The 100km route was blessed with perfect weather and water conditions, plus very generous and spectacular escorts by the lifeboat crews at both of our route stops in Barmouth and Aberdyfi.
“Money has finally all come in from this event and we are proud to have raised just over £10,000.
“The money this year will be split between the Welsh Air Ambulance and Blood Bikes Wales, a charity that delivers urgent blood all over Wales.”
PWC Gwynedd extended their thanks to all who donated and supported the jet-skiers in their pursuit.
