A SUBSTANTIAL amount of cash has been donated to the emergency services after dozens of jet skiers rode around the Dwyfor and Meirionnydd coastline.

On Monday a donation of £4,000 was made to Wales Air Ambulance by PWCGwynedd, a jet skiing group which orchestrates charity runs around Gwynedd and Anglesey. Donations of £1,500 have also been made to RNLI branches in Aberdyfi, Barmouth and Criccieth - amounting to a whopping £8,500 in total.

The second Black Rock Blast saw 100 jet skies turn up to Black Rock Sands with the intention of riding from Porthmadog to Aberdyfi and back. However, poor weather curtailed the run.

Despite catching the “only weekend of bad weather in three months”, Scott Beeland, race organiser, was pleased with the event. “We couldn’t have been unluckier with the conditions but we still managed to raise more money than expected.”
