MEMORIALS have been unveiled to a much-loved Aberystwyth fishing personality who died last year aged 86.

Plaques have been erected to honour Moc Morgan OBE at some of his favourite fishing spots in honour of his role as a “true ambassador” for angling in the area.

A bench with a plaque was unveiled on 8 June on the River Dyfi by Mr Morgan’s widow Julia.

The bench was placed there by the New Dovey Fishery Association in gratitude of Mr Morgan’s “long dedication to angling.”

Honorary secretary of the association, Richard Evans, said: “The well-known fishing personality who passed away last year was a true ambassador to the sport of angling and field sports in general.

“He had a favourite fishing pools on most of the major rivers of Wales and was a regular visitor to the river Dyfi - his favourite fishing run on the Dyfi had become known as Moc’s run.

“At this spot on the riverbank of the river the association provided a bench in gratitude for his long dedication to angling.”

The land on which the bench stands was gifted to the association by John Parry of Rhiwlas Hall.
