ONCE again this year, the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth has a full programme of exciting exhibitions.

The year will begin with a series of exhibitions looking at the history of warfare in Wales and commemorating the First World War.

In their first exhibition, Er Cof: Remembering for Peace, visitors will have the opportunity to see the Welsh Book of Remembrance alongside the digital copy.

Items from the library’s collections will also be displayed and will tell the story of four soldiers who lost their lives in the Great War.

The exhibition, Words of War, will look at how Welsh poets and prose writers have depicted the experience of war.

Visitors are invited to accompany the poets on a journey to Catraeth, Cilmeri, Bosworth and the Somme and through their words we will celebrate victories and mourn defeats with them.

The last exhibition in this series, Efforts and Ideals: Prints of the First World War, is a touring exhibition from National Museum of Wales - Amgueddfa Cymru.

All 66 works from the 1917 print portfolio, The Great War: Britain’s Efforts and Ideals, will be on display, which include contributions from some of the best known British artists of the period.

Later in the year, the library will be going on various adventures as part of the Welsh Government’s year of adventure.

The exhibition, Adventure is Just a Page Away, will examine the work of a variety of authors and we hope to bring back happy memories of childhood stories and encourage visitors to go on their own adventure.

Girlguiding Cymru: Pushing the Boundaries, will trace the history of Girlguiding Cymru from its establishment in 1910 up to the present day, looking at how the movement has pushed the boundaries and impacted on the lives of girls over the years.
