A LIFEBOAT station in Meirionnydd has received a welcome financial boost from jet-skiers.
Over summer last year, nearly 100 jet-skis turned up in Porthmadog to ride along the coastline of Dwyfor and Meirionnydd to Aberdyfi and back in a bid to raise money for charity and to promote a more positive image of jet-skiers.
Unfortunately, the weather on the day shorted the ride, which saw riders turn around in Barmouth, and the number of jet-ski pilots reduced.
Despite the problems, the Blackrock Blast still raised over £8,000 for charity, with Wales Air Ambulance and three RNLI stations all receiving a four-figure sum from PWC Gwynedd, the organisers of the run.
Last weekend, Scott Beeland, who organised the fundraiser for PWC Gwynedd, met with Aberdyfi RNLI representatives to hand them a cheque for £1,500.
A spokesperson for Aberdyfi RNLI said: “Last week, Scott from PWC Gwynedd visited the station to donate a cheque of £1,500 from their fundraising event last year.
“A massive thank you for your generous donation to Aberdyfi lifeboat station. See you on 22 June for this year’s blast.
“Come down and see them arrive in style. Diolch yn fawr!”
