Editor,

Your reporter Patrick Hollis was absolutely right about the delays and dangers of the hill going up south out of Llanbedr. One walker was very seriously injured and may now have passed away.

But the solution is not to strangle the village, one of the loveliest in Snowdonia with a bypass, and to squander £19m.

As has been discussed many times in your columns, all that is needed is a four way traffic lights controlling the traffic at the bridge.

Our house overlooks the road and we have many times noted and recorded the improvements in traffic flow when, for example, the council are using traffic lights when carrying our road works.

This suggestion has often been publicised; may we invite our council to respond?

For the council to authorise and construct a bridleway from the station south-east across the Lord Lieutenant’s land to the main road would also be immensely effective, and people walking or cycling the Welsh coast path would benefit greatly.

With firms moving their staff up to the Llanbedr spaceport this will be increasingly important.
