I heartily agree with Penny David’s view about roadside littering (Cambrian News, 27 February) and hope that it can be reduced greatly, both at source as suggested and by other means.

However, the problem should not be attributed to passing motorists alone: one has only to walk along our footpaths to see what has been cast aside by a thoughtless minority of walkers, runners or cyclists.

Whether carried by pedestrians or in vehicles, food and drink packages can be taken long distances, but as soon as they are finished with, they are all too often thrown into or over the hedgerows – the idea of taking them a bit further to the next bin (or even home!) is seemingly not considered.

Example, education, clearing: don’t give up!
