St Padarn’s
Sunday, 8 November, was Remembrance Sunday, and the congregation assembling for the 10am United Service of Remembrance, were greeted by the haunting sound of eight of the bells being rung half muffled.
The officiating ministers at the service were Revs Andrew Loat and Richard Lewis, with Rev Lewis giving the address.
The Commemoration and the Reading of the Roll was undertaken by community councillor David Greaney.
The service ended with the blessing from Rev Loat, after which the crucifer and church choir led the congregation down to the village war memorial where a further short service preceded the sounding of the Last Post by Bugler Katie John and the two minutes’ silence.
After Reveille had been sounded, a number of wreaths were laid.
Rev Loat then gave the Kohima Epitaph and all said the Prayer of St Francis, after which the service concluded with a final blessing from Rev Loat.
