MEMBERS set off on their spring outing last month. They first visited the craft centre at Corris where they were able to spend time visiting the interesting craft shops and enjoy refreshments at the café.They then continued through the Welsh countryside, enjoying the signs of spring; the newborn lambs skipping happily in the fields and the blos-soming trees and bushes and spring flowers. They continued northwards and then turned off down the Tal-y-llyn Valley, arriving at Abergynolwyn in time for an early lunch at the Railway Hotel. Members agreed that this was an excellent meal and those who had indulged too much in the way of refreshments earlier in the day had a hint of regret. While everyone was enjoying coffee, Tom Allday sold tickets for the raffle, which was won by the chairman, Gaynor Breese. After lunch, members were ready to enjoy the journey down to the coast at Tywyn and along the coast road with wonderful views across the bay, until they turned inland at Fairbourne and drove up the Mawddach Estuary to Dolgellau. By the time they arrived there, members had regained their strength and were able to indulge in a little retail therapy in the town.Apart from the interesting shops, members noticed enviously that the town seems to have managed to retain the branches of all major banks.Older members liked having the opportunity to visit different places and see new shops, and walking sticks were much in evidence as they pottered around. From Dolgellau it was a quick journey back to Llanbrynmair, where Val Potter summed up the thoughts of the group and thanked Frances Fenwick, the secretary, for organising such an enjoy-able day, and the driver of the Celtic Travel coach for driving them around so safely.
