Horticultural Show

THE Llanddewi Brefi Horticultural Show, arranged by Llanddewi Brefi WI, was a great success again this year.

Awards were presented by presidents Evan and Ann Jones, Foelallt farm.The various winners were as follows:Award for the highest number of points in the garden section, kindly given by Julie a Gareth Lloyd Davies, 5 Heol y Gorwydd, Llanddewi Brefi – Shelagh Yeomans, Yr Efail, Llanio.Perpetual Rose Bowl ‘Tlws Gardd a Blodau’ given in memory of Elwyn and Margaret Benjamin, Pant Villa, for the highest number of points in the garden and flower sections, classes 1-20 (inclusive) – Shelagh Yeomans, Yr Efail, Llanio.

Award for the highest number of point in the flowers section, kindly given by Eluned Hopkins, Cefnllanio, Heol Llanio, Tregaron – Margaret Howells, Murmur y Coed, Llanddewi Brefi.

Perpetual Silver Cup in memory of the late Gloria Jones, Bryn Mawr, for the best exhibit in the flower section, classes 11–20 (inclusive) – May Turnell, Gwarffynnon, Llanddewi Brefi. Perpetual Silver Cup in memory of the late Val Solomons, Morfa Uchaf for the best exhibit in the flower section, classes 21–25 (inclusive) – Margaret Howells, Murmur y Coed, Llanddewi Brefi.Award for the highest number of points in the floral art section, kindly given by Paula Lewis and Wendy Roberts, Gorlan, Llanddewi Brefi – 1, Margaret Howells; joint 2, Eirios Davies and Shelagh Yeomans.

Award for the highest number of points in the cookery section, kindly given by Roseanne Ebenezer, Nantdderwen, Llanddewi Brefi – Eirios Davies, Rhattal, Llanio. Perpetual Silver Cup in memory of ‘Wil New Inn’, the late William B Davies, Llwyn Arthen, Caerdydd for the best exhibit in the cookery section, classes 26–35 (inclusive) – Hannah Fromling Edwards, Bryn Hedd, Llanddewi Brefi.

Award given for the highest number of points in the Allsorts section, kindly given by The Fuel Allotment Trust – Eirios Davies, Rhattal, Llanio.Perpetual Silver Cup in memory of the late Beryl Evans, Ochorgarth for the best exhibit in the Allsorts section, classes 36–45 (inclusive) – Orwel Edwards, Bryn Hedd, Llanddewi Brefi.

Award given for the highest number of points in the handicraft section, kindly given by Gary a Helen Davies, 20 Hyfrydle, Llanddewi Brefi – Delyth Lloyd Jones, Ystrad Dewi.

Perpetual Silver Cup ‘Cwpan Pin a Nodwydd’ in memory of the late Mary James, Ty Mawr for the best exhibit in the handicraft section, classes 46–55 (inclusive) – Delyth Lloyd Jones, Ystrad Dewi, Llanio.
